“Skyward Gazing"- Artwork

"Skyward Gazing" is my newest tree piece, fabulous redwoods that is!

I spent some time in Northern California a few years back visiting the Avenue of the Giants and oh my goodness were these trees amazing! Enormous beyond measure and looking upward they really put life into perspective! I loved creating these beautiful canopy of trees from a vantage point of one tiny human below. Truly awe-inspiring!

After sketching the image and creating the design, I paint in thick layers that ultimately catch light and shadows as well as contributing unusual color elements to the image as the next layer is applied. This technique not only creates a three-dimensional quality to the original as well as prints, but it also adds a richness and drama.

This is a large, square piece, 24" x 24" (sides painted, no frame needed).
