"Tidebound for Shrimp" - Original Art

As an artist—and someone who’s completely fallen in love with the rhythms of St. Augustine, Florida—I’m endlessly inspired by the sight of shrimp boats just offshore. There’s something deeply peaceful yet purposeful about them. They don’t race. They glide, steady and sure, chasing the tide and the day’s catch.

This small seascape captures that feeling—a shrimp boat visible on the horizon, surrounded by birds and salt air. I used thick, textured palette knife strokes to give movement to the surf and weight to the clouds, while keeping the boat light and simple, like a quiet presence working the sea.

It’s a small piece, but it holds a big part of what I love about coastal life: the connection to nature, to work, and to beauty that doesn't need to shout.
