"Mrs Marigold & Kit" - Original Artwork

This painting honors the remarkable story of a wild fox named Marigold, who has been visiting the same family for eight years—an extraordinary lifespan for a fox in the wild. Unlike most who stay a few seasons and move on, Marigold has remained a gentle, watchful presence year after year. The family has known her mother, grandmother, siblings—and has offered quiet sanctuary to many of them during times of injury or need. But it is Marigold who has truly captured their hearts.

In Mrs. Marigold and Kit, I wanted to celebrate that unique bond and the quiet strength of a mother guiding her little one. Painted in my signature palette knife style, the background came together intuitively—meant to lift and frame these beloved animals without distraction. I’m so touched that the collector trusted me to bring this scene to life, and hearing that the background “is perfect” makes it all the more meaningful.

This piece is more than a painting—it’s a tribute to resilience, memory, and the love we hold for the wild souls who choose to be part of our world. When Marigold no longer visits in person, may this painting continue to tell her story.
