"Reaching for the Sky" - Original Artwork
I wanted this piece to feel uplifting and full of life. The mountain rises dramatically in the distance while the wildflowers seem to reach upward toward it, creating that sense of movement and possibility that inspired the title.
I built Reaching for the Sky with layers of thick, expressive palette-knife texture, using cool blues and purples in the mountain against bright yellows, greens, and touches of violet in the foreground. I love the contrast between the strength of the mountain and the softness and abundance of the flowers, and the way the color and texture lead your eye from the meadow all the way up into the open sky with a soaring bird overhead.
